Preston Wettstein, a 40-year-old man from Smiths Grove, has been charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree fleeing or evading police and operating a motor vehicle under the influence, following an incident in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The
event occurred around 1:53 a.m. on a Sunday when Bowling Green police were alerted to a possible intoxicated driver near Chestnut Street and East Main Avenue. An officer attempted to stop Wettstein from entering his vehicle, but he reportedly ignored commands and drove away. Authorities later located the vehicle near Park Street and Fairview Avenue, where it nearly struck a concrete median. Despite attempts to stop him, Wettstein allegedly sped up, passed The Medical Center at Bowling Green emergency room entrance, and then drove through a parking lot, hitting a curb. He was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint and resisted arrest before being detained. A search of his vehicle revealed 14 empty Fireball shooter bottles and other empty alcoholic beverages. Wettstein also made threatening statements to officers while at The Medical Center for a blood draw.
