The University of North Texas (UNT) is launching a new undergraduate major in artificial intelligence (AI) to meet the growing demand for AI professionals in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Approved by the UNT Board of Regents, the program will be housed
in the College of Engineering and aims to prepare students for the rapidly evolving job market. The curriculum will focus on designing, building, and deploying AI systems, while also addressing the social and ethical implications of AI. This initiative is part of UNT President Harrison Keller's strategy to align educational offerings with regional workforce needs, as North Texas is projected to add 7 million jobs by 2050.
