What's Happening?
Carl Sandburg College has joined the Corn Belt Ports Rural Logistics and Maritime Training and Education Consortium, a new initiative aimed at developing the maritime workforce in the Midwest. This consortium includes educational institutions from Illinois,
Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin, such as Western Illinois University and Black Hawk College. The group will collaborate with Corn Belt Ports, an organization of federally recognized ports, to align educational efforts with industry needs along the upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers. The initiative focuses on meeting workforce demands for both afloat and ashore careers, ensuring that training programs are aligned with industry requirements.
