William Martin Gaul, a retired architect and United States Naval Commander, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 92 in Evanston, Illinois. Born in Belleville, Illinois, Gaul was a graduate of Cathedral High School and the University of Illinois. He
was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Murphy Gaul, and is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A visitation and funeral mass are scheduled for June 29, 2026, at the Sheil Catholic Center in Evanston, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Sheil Catholic Center.
