What's Happening?
Eyal Ostrinsky, the newly appointed chair of Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF), is prioritizing the organization's core mission of reforestation and land development. On his second day, Ostrinsky visited Kibbutz Nir Oz, a community
heavily impacted by recent terror attacks, to oversee redevelopment projects. He aims to improve KKL-JNF's reputation and strengthen ties with Diaspora Jewry by focusing on reforestation, agricultural infrastructure, and educational programs. Ostrinsky also plans to appoint a new CEO and pass a budget to guide the organization's activities in 2026.
Why It's Important?
Ostrinsky's leadership comes at a critical time for KKL-JNF, an influential organization in Israel's land development sector. By refocusing on tree planting and environmental initiatives, KKL-JNF can play a significant role in combating climate change and preserving Israel's natural landscapes. This shift in priorities may also help address past allegations of corruption and improve the organization's public image. Strengthening ties with Jewish communities abroad could enhance support for KKL-JNF's projects and foster a sense of global Jewish solidarity.
