New York State has announced a $50 million investment to enhance its clean energy workforce. This funding is part of a larger $320 million initiative aimed at developing training programs for careers in energy efficiency and renewable energy. The Clean
Energy Career Pathways Training and Technical Skills Training and Upskilling programs are designed to prepare New Yorkers for high-demand jobs in the clean energy sector. According to the latest New York Clean Energy Industry Report, the state employed 184,000 workers in the clean energy sector by the end of 2024, marking an increase of approximately 6,000 jobs. The sector has been attracting an average of $6 billion in public and private investments annually from 2022 to 2024. Doreen M. Harris, President and CEO of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), emphasized the importance of these programs in building a skilled workforce to support the state's energy independence and reliability.
