St. Mary's County is set to enhance its outdoor recreational offerings by introducing self-service rental kiosks in local parks. This initiative, presented by Recreation and Parks Director Ray Bivens, aims to lower the barriers to entry for residents
interested in activities such as kayaking, pickleball, and disc golf. The kiosks, operated by Rent.Fun, will allow users to rent equipment via a smartphone app, sign digital waivers, and return items without the need for on-site staff. The first phase will see kiosks installed at Snow Hill Park, Chancellors Run Regional Park, and Lexington Manor Passive Park. The county will invest approximately $41,000 for the initial setup, with rental revenue shared equally with Rent.Fun.
