an increase in AI-generated work since the spring semester of 2023. To address this, the professor implemented a 'Trojan horse' method, inserting hidden text into assignment directions that AI could detect but students could not. This experiment revealed that nearly 39% of submitted papers were at least partially AI-generated. The professor expressed disappointment, noting that students cheated on a paper about a historical rebellion, missing the opportunity to engage with the material meaningfully.
