Martha A. Ponderlik, a lifelong resident of Chicago, passed away at the age of 96 on December 6, 2025. Known for her dedication to education, Ponderlik spent 43 years as a teacher in the Chicago Public School system, primarily at Linne Elementary School,
before retiring in 1993. She was deeply involved in her community, particularly through her active participation in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and various prayer groups. Ponderlik was also an accomplished pianist and artist, often sharing her talents at family gatherings and community events. Her life was marked by generosity and a strong spiritual devotion, as she was known for her daily rosary prayers. Ponderlik is survived by her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, who remember her fondly for her kindness and artistic spirit.
