Rolls-Royce has successfully tested the world's first high-speed marine engine powered exclusively by methanol. This achievement was made possible through the meOHmare research project, which aims to develop
climate-neutral and environmentally friendly propulsion solutions for shipping. The test took place at Rolls-Royce's facility in Friedrichshafen, marking a significant milestone in the company's efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and promote sustainable propulsion systems. The project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and involves collaboration with partners such as Woodward L’Orange and the WTZ Roßlau technology and research center.
