The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has taken significant enforcement actions against more than 30 MaineCare providers, including the immediate termination of contracts with Beyond Residential Care and Paradise Residential Services.
These actions follow a series of investigations revealing severe safety violations and inadequate care conditions. DHHS documents indicate that concerns about these agencies have been raised since 2024, leading to the termination of their contracts in March. Investigations into Beyond Residential Care uncovered unsanitary conditions, such as dog feces and urine in bedrooms, bug infestations, and insufficient food supplies. Similarly, Paradise Residential Services was found to have unsanitary conditions that could attract rodents and inadequate food provisions. Both agencies also failed to administer medication to clients as required.
