What's Happening?
A consortium of Japanese organizations has initiated a research and development project aimed at creating a comprehensive simulation platform for shipbuilding. This initiative, involving ten organizations including
MTI, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, and Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, seeks to integrate virtual engineering into the ship design and construction process. The platform will model the entire lifecycle of shipbuilding, from design to operation, and incorporate advanced forecasting technology to predict weather and sea conditions. The project is part of Japan's Key and Advanced Technology R&D through Cross Community Collaboration Program and is set to run until September 2030.
