What's Happening?
Construction has commenced on the new Brennan Community Center at Rouge Park in Detroit, Michigan. The project is backed by a $20 million commitment from Detroit Pistons Owner and Platinum Equity Chairman and CEO Tom Gores. This new 25,000-square-foot
facility is designed to be a central hub for youth development, recreation, education, and community engagement within the Cody Rouge neighborhood. It addresses a long-standing need, as District 7 of Detroit previously lacked an indoor community center for its youth and families. The vision for the center was partly shaped by discussions with Detroit Pistons players, coaches, and employees, who focused on expanding the organization's social justice impact and identifying key priorities such as education, mentorship, workforce development, life skills training, financial literacy, and access to safe recreational spaces. Construction is anticipated to conclude in the fall of 2027.

This initiative represents a significant investment in Detroit's community infrastructure, particularly for the Cody Rouge neighborhood. The absence of an indoor community center in District 7 has limited opportunities for youth and families, making this new facility a critical resource.
