What's Happening?
Tunisia's state grains agency, ONF, has received offers to purchase approximately 27,000 metric tons of animal feed corn, with the lowest price offered at $267.09 per tonne, including cost and freight. The offers are still under consideration, with Ameropa
and seven other trading firms participating in the tender. The shipment is requested for delivery between May 5-30, depending on the origin, which could be from regions such as the Mediterranean, East Europe, Black Sea, West Europe, Brazil, the United States, or Argentina. A previous tender for 25,000 tonnes of feed corn ended without a sale.
Why It's Important?
The tender reflects the ongoing global trade dynamics and the demand for animal feed in Tunisia. The pricing and availability of corn are crucial for Tunisia's agricultural sector, impacting livestock production and food security. The participation of multiple trading firms indicates competitive market conditions and the importance of securing reliable supply chains. The outcome of the tender could influence future trade relations and pricing strategies in the region. Additionally, the tender highlights the interconnectedness of global agricultural markets and the impact of regional supply and demand fluctuations.
