Mayara dos Santos Rocha, a PhD candidate at Purdue University, is conducting research on sustainable agriculture, focusing on nitrogen and carbon cycling in cropping systems. Her work involves studying kura clover, a perennial legume used as living mulch
with corn, at Purdue's Water Quality Field Station. The research aims to assess the nitrogen balance and greenhouse gas emissions in these systems. Rocha's projects also explore the tolerance of kura clover to herbicides and defoliation, and the impact of residue management on nitrogen loss. Her research is supported by the CAPES fellowship, a collaboration between the Brazilian government and Purdue.
