What's Happening?
Ventura County has unveiled the Moon Ditch mural, one of the largest murals in the United States, spanning approximately 3,400 linear feet along a flood control channel. The mural, visible from Highway 101, was created by Oxnard artist Elisa Torres in collaboration
with local artists, volunteers, and community organizations. It features depictions of local waterways, native plants, and wildlife, including tule reeds, monarch butterflies, egrets, and great blue herons. This project is part of the VibeWell Ventura County initiative, which aims to use arts and culture to promote mental health and community well-being.
Why It's Important?
The completion of the Moon Ditch mural represents a significant cultural achievement for Ventura County, highlighting the role of public art in community engagement and mental health support.
