What's Happening?
Ukraine is advancing plans to deploy a 360-satellite communications constellation, known as UASAT, to reduce its reliance on foreign-operated services like Starlink. The network, expected to cost over $1.13 billion, will operate in low Earth orbit and
initially serve state and military users. The first 120 satellites are planned for launch with SpaceX in 2027, with full deployment by 2030. The project, a joint venture with Danish satellite manufacturer GomSpace, aims to enhance Ukraine's national security and resilience by providing independent satellite communications capabilities.
