What's Happening?
The US Department of Defense has contracted Sabena Aerospace, a Belgian engineering company, to conduct maintenance on legacy F-16 fighter jets that are to be delivered to Ukraine. The maintenance work will be carried out at Sabena's facility in Brussels
over the next three years. This contract is part of a broader effort to support Ukraine's air force capabilities as European countries donate their older F-16s to Ukraine while upgrading to newer F-35 aircraft. The US has allocated nearly $70 million for this maintenance project, which is part of a larger $235 million budget.
