What's Happening?
Brazilian aerospace company Embraer has proposed to establish India as a global manufacturing hub for its KC-390 Millennium aircraft, contingent on winning a contract with the Indian Air Force (IAF) for approximately 80 medium transport planes. Embraer President
and CEO Francisco Gomes Neto stated that the company is ready to set up a full production line in India to cater to both domestic and Asia-Pacific markets. The KC-390, a multi-mission transport and aerial refueling aircraft, is competing against Airbus' A-400M and Lockheed Martin's C-130J Super Hercules. Embraer plans to enhance local manufacturing through partnerships and establish a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul hub in India.
