What's Happening?
Dusit International is set to open its first Dusit Collection hotel in Japan, named WE Hotel Toya, on July 1, 2026. Located on the shores of Lake Tōya in Hokkaido, the hotel will be the third Dusit-branded property in Japan. The hotel features architecture
by Kengo Kuma & Associates and offers 55 lake-view guestrooms and three two-story villas, each with a private open-air bath. The culinary offerings include Japanese and Thai dishes using local ingredients, with various dining options such as EZO Cuisine and the Noodle Bar. Reservations are now open, with an introductory offer providing 20% savings on a half-board stay.
Why It's Important?
The opening of WE Hotel Toya marks a significant expansion for Dusit International into the Japanese market, potentially boosting tourism in Hokkaido. The hotel's location within the Toya-Usu UNESCO Global Geopark could attract international visitors interested in natural and cultural experiences. This development may also stimulate local economic growth by creating jobs and increasing demand for local produce and services. The introduction of a luxury brand like Dusit Collection could enhance Hokkaido's reputation as a premium travel destination.
What's Next?
With the opening scheduled for July 2026, Dusit International will likely focus on marketing strategies to attract both domestic and international tourists. The hotel may collaborate with local tourism boards to promote Hokkaido's unique attractions. Additionally, the success of this property could influence Dusit's future expansion plans in Japan and other international markets. Stakeholders, including local businesses and tourism operators, may anticipate increased visitor numbers and prepare to accommodate the potential influx.
