Born in Proctorsville, Vermont, on November 7, 1933, Bourey dedicated his life to teaching and coaching, leaving a lasting impact on his students and colleagues. He taught science and coached basketball at Hopkinton High School in New Hampshire from 1956 to 1958, and later coached junior varsity football at Oak Park River Forest High School from 1959 to 1977. Bourey also taught chemistry at Oak Park River Forest High School from 1959 to 1993, where he served as head of the science division from 1990 to 1993. His contributions to education were recognized with the Davidson Award for outstanding high school teaching of chemistry. Bourey was also inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and received the Suburban Basketball Officials Award for his decades of officiating high school basketball games.
