What's Happening?
Action for Children, a charity organization, is set to open new 'training' flats in Guernsey to support homeless young people. These seven single-occupancy homes, purchased by Maison St Pierre and rented to the charity, aim to provide a safe environment where young individuals can learn essential life skills. The initiative is designed to help these youths transition to independent living by teaching them how to manage a household, including budgeting, paying rent, and self-care. The flats, developed from a previously unused office block, are expected to be ready by the end of November, with the first tenants moving in by Christmas. The project includes an accessible flat on the top floor, which will be completed by the end of the year.
