What's Happening?
WE Tech Solutions and Everllence have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on delivering electrification, energy-efficiency, and decarbonization solutions to the global maritime industry. This partnership aims to leverage WE Tech's
expertise in hybrid systems and electrical integration with Everllence's global engineering and service capabilities. The collaboration focuses on providing retrofit projects that enhance operational efficiency and reduce emissions, supporting the maritime industry's transition towards sustainability. The MoU was signed during Posidonia 2026 in Athens, marking a significant step in advancing maritime decarbonization efforts.
Why It's Important?
The partnership between WE Tech Solutions and Everllence is crucial as the maritime industry faces increasing pressure to reduce its environmental impact. By focusing on electrification and energy management, the collaboration aims to provide shipowners with practical solutions that lower fuel consumption and emissions. This initiative aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and supports the industry's shift towards more sustainable practices. The collaboration could set a precedent for other companies in the maritime sector, encouraging further innovation and investment in green technologies.
What's Next?
The two companies have already initiated a project to offer Power Take-Off (PTO) and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) upgrades for vessels during dry dockings. They are in discussions about a pilot project with options for up to 33 vessels. These upgrades are designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by allowing ships to avoid running auxiliary engines. The success of these projects could lead to broader adoption of similar technologies across the maritime industry, further accelerating the transition to sustainable shipping practices.
