The proposed certification requires candidates to have at least five years of legal practice, with 40% of their work in insurance coverage law, and to have completed at least 30 insurance-related services. Additionally, applicants must pass an examination to demonstrate their proficiency. The Florida Bar's Board of Governors approved the proposed rules in September, and the comment period has recently closed. The next step involves a review by the state Supreme Court. If approved, this certification will be one of 28 offered by the Florida Bar. To further educate attorneys, a Florida Insurance Coverage College seminar is scheduled for March 5 in Orlando, covering recent legislative changes and emerging trends.
