What's Happening?
The Cal Poly Maritime Academy, with support from GHD, a global professional services company, is advancing the construction of a new berthing facility and replacement pier to accommodate its National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV). The project,
led by general contractor Otto-Dutra, involves significant modernization of the Academy's maritime training infrastructure. The design incorporates seismic resilience standards and modern engineering practices to meet the operational needs of the NSMV. The construction began in September 2025, with major milestones achieved, including the installation of mooring dolphins. The project is on an accelerated schedule, with completion targeted for June 2027.
