What's Happening?
Iceland's Ministry of Education and Children has launched a new national online portal that consolidates information on upper secondary study programmes across the country. The portal aims to provide students, parents, and educators with easy access to educational
pathways and programme details. This initiative is part of broader efforts to improve access to educational information and expand digital public services. The portal currently lists around 400 accredited study programmes from 37 schools, and schools are invited to provide feedback as development continues.
Why It's Important?
The launch of the national portal represents a significant step in enhancing transparency and accessibility in Iceland's education system. By centralizing information on study programmes, the portal can help students make informed decisions about their educational paths. This initiative aligns with global trends towards digitalization and open access to information, which can improve educational outcomes and support lifelong learning. The portal also facilitates collaboration between schools and the Ministry of Education, promoting consistency and quality in upper secondary education.
