The 90th Annual Flight of Newport Beach is set to take place this Sunday, featuring a variety of sailboats including Harbor 20s, ILCAs, and RS Tera. Sponsored by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce and Balboa Yacht Club, the event celebrates both its
90th anniversary and America's 250th anniversary with the theme 'Freedom On The Water.' Participants can register for free and will receive a limited-edition T-shirt and a chance to win sailing gear. Lawrence Jones, the event chairman, encourages participants to decorate their boats in line with the patriotic theme. The event will kick off with a vintage Snowbird sailboat, a nod to the event's origins in 1936. Mike Staudt will lead the regatta with his 1959 Snowbird, marking a significant personal milestone as he participates alongside his wife.
