Janet Kesel Hughes Hall, a lifelong resident of Aurora, Illinois, passed away peacefully in Geneva on October 30, 2025, just weeks before her 95th birthday. Known for her integrity, humor, and dedication
to others, Janet was a prominent figure in her community. Born on November 26, 1930, she was the daughter of Dr. Robert and Helen Kesel and grew up in Aurora, where she spent over 80 years of her life. Janet was a pioneer in local radio, likely becoming the first female radio host from Aurora in the 1950s. She hosted a weekly call-in advice and music program called 'Listen Ladies,' created by Chick Hearn, who later became the voice of the LA Lakers. Janet was also a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Aurora, where she centered her life around faith and family. She married Charles L. Hughes in 1960 and, after his passing, married Rev. John Hall in 1985. Janet is survived by her daughter, Karen Hughes Griffin, and her grandchildren, among other family members.
