What's Happening?
Automate UK, a trade association for the processing and packaging machinery sectors, has collaborated with several European trade associations to establish EUROPAMA, the Processing & Packaging EU Federation. This federation aims to influence policy on key
industry challenges, including sustainability regulations and industrial competitiveness. EUROPAMA was founded at Interpack 2026 in Düsseldorf, with founding members from Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and Switzerland. The federation seeks to provide a collective voice for the industry at the European level, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange related to industrial policy and technological transformation. The initiative is particularly significant for UK businesses post-Brexit, as it aims to maintain their influence over European regulations affecting supply chains and exports.
Why It's Important?
The formation of EUROPAMA is crucial for the processing and packaging machinery industry as it addresses the need for a unified voice in policy discussions at the European level. This is particularly important in the context of increasing regulations and the impact of AI on manufacturing. For UK businesses, the federation offers a platform to remain connected with European innovation networks despite Brexit, ensuring they can navigate new regulations and sustainability requirements. The collaboration could enhance industrial competitiveness and drive productivity and growth within the sector, benefiting both European and UK manufacturers.
What's Next?
EUROPAMA will focus on addressing core issues such as sustainability regulations and automation policy. It will assist member organizations in dealing with new regulations, providing them with access to industry intelligence and opportunities to participate in trade events across Europe. The federation's efforts will likely influence future policy decisions and regulatory frameworks, impacting how the industry adapts to technological advancements and sustainability challenges.
