Mary R. Chandler, a beloved member of her community, passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on May 19, 1935, in Michie, Tennessee, Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She married Joe E. Chandler in 1952,
and together they raised three children. The family moved to Chicago in 1964, where Mary pursued higher education, earning degrees from Oakton Community College, Northeastern Illinois University, and the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Mary was actively involved in the First United Methodist Church of Park Ridge, serving as president and treasurer of the United Methodist Women. Known for her talents in sewing and quilting, she also delighted many with her homemade treats. Mary is survived by her children, grandchildren, and a great-grandson. A private family service will be held in Tennessee.
