What's Happening?
Hanwha Aerospace, in collaboration with Malaysian vehicle manufacturer Cendana, has showcased an upgraded version of the K200 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2026 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. The new model, named the Malaysian IFV-Cendana
Hanwha 2025 (MIFV-CH25), features significant upgrades, including a remote-controlled weapon station and a combined electric-hydraulic rear ramp system. These enhancements aim to modernize the vehicle's capabilities, allowing for automated operations and improved embarkation and disembarkation processes. The prototype was evaluated by the Malaysian Army in August 2025, and while no upgrade contract has been awarded yet, the MIFV-CH25 is positioned as a modernization option for Malaysia's existing fleet of 111 K200 IFVs.
