What's Happening?
The Detroit Red Wings have unveiled their official Centennial uniform to commemorate 100 years of the franchise. Established in 1926, the team was originally known as the Detroit Cougars and later the Detroit Falcons before adopting the Red Wings name in 1932. The Centennial uniform, designed by the Red Wings and produced by Fanatics, honors the iconic Winged Wheel sweater and incorporates meaningful design elements reflecting the team's century-long history. The uniform features a commemorative Centennial patch, a redrawn 'Cougar D' logo, and leather-like patches matching the Centennial uniform gloves. The uniform will be worn for more than a dozen home games during the 2025-26 season, debuting on October 9 against the Montreal Canadiens.
Why It's Important?

This milestone not only honors the team's past achievements and iconic players but also strengthens the bond with its devoted fan base. The uniform serves as a reminder of the franchise's impact on the city of Detroit and its contribution to the sport of hockey. It also generates excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season, potentially boosting fan engagement and merchandise sales.
