A waterman named Chikoosa Nayaka died by suicide in front of a panchayat office in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district. He alleged non-payment of salary for 27 months and mental harassment by local officials.

The Zilla Panchayat CEO suspended Rame Gowda for negligence and violation of service rules.
