The IEEE Presidents’ Scholarship has recognized three high school students for their innovative projects in assistive technology and robotics. Hollie Tang received the top scholarship of $10,000 for her 'Tonguage' project, a noninvasive, computer-vision-based
human-machine interface that allows users to control computers and assistive technologies, including wheelchairs, using tongue movements and eye blinks. Partap Sidhu secured second place with a $600 scholarship for 'NeuroGait,' a mind-controlled lower-limb exoskeleton designed to assist individuals with mobility issues. Calvin Shang Hung earned third place with a $400 scholarship for his 'Math Into Motion: Robotic Hexapod for Hazardous Environments,' a six-legged robot adapted for disaster response and navigating unstable terrain. These awards were presented at Regeneron’s International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) by IEEE President Mary Ellen Randall, highlighting the students' exceptional grasp of electrical engineering, computer science, and related fields.
