Sizewell C has announced plans to establish a new bus depot in Ipswich, which is expected to create up to 400 jobs. The depot will support a fleet of approximately 150 zero-emission buses designed to transport workers to the nuclear power station site
near Leiston. This initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion and emissions by minimizing the need for daily car journeys. The buses will connect the site with two park and ride locations, with the Northern Park and Ride already operational and the Southern Park and Ride set to open soon. The depot will feature EV charging and hydrogen refueling facilities, operating 24/7 to accommodate off-peak travel. Damian Leydon, Site Delivery Director at Sizewell C, emphasized the project's role in reducing congestion and supporting cleaner air.
