Three members of the Cumbrian farming community have been honored for their significant contributions to the agriculture sector during a ceremony at the House of Lords. The Council for Awards of the Royal
Agricultural Societies (CARAS) presented 29 individuals with associateships (ARAgS) and three with fellowships (FRAgS). Among the recipients was Alistair Mackintosh, a beef and sheep farmer from Ravenglass, recognized for his extensive service on the NFU council and his leadership roles in various agricultural committees. Ian Powley from Durdar received an associateship for his long-standing commitment to the agricultural industry, including his work with Carrs Billington and the Cumberland Agricultural Society. Andrew Newbold from Killington was also awarded an associateship for his contributions to agricultural engineering and safety consultancy.
