What's Happening?
Columbia University has transitioned from using the Handshake platform to a new system called ColumWorks, aimed at improving the job search and career services experience for its students. The new platform, powered by the company 12twenty, offers advanced
search functionalities and allows students to filter job opportunities by various criteria such as paid or unpaid internships, internships for credit, and different types of employment. This change was made to better cater to students pursuing creative careers, as Handshake was deemed limited in customization and often cluttered with irrelevant job postings. ColumWorks will serve as the central hub for on-campus jobs, internships, and career events, and will be managed by the Career Center staff. Students are encouraged to explore the new system and provide feedback to the Career Center to address any issues.
