Martha A. Ponderlik, a lifelong resident of Chicago and a dedicated educator, passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 96. Born and raised in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, Ponderlik was a graduate of the Chicago Teachers’ College and devoted 43
years to teaching in the Chicago Public School system, primarily at Linne Elementary School. She retired in 1993. Known for her commitment to education and her community, Ponderlik was an active member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and participated in various prayer groups across the northwest side parishes. She was also a self-taught pianist and artist, often sharing her talents at family gatherings, school events, and local nursing homes. Ponderlik was remembered for her generosity and spiritual devotion, regularly engaging in prayer and charitable activities.
