A recent survey conducted by CNBC and Generational Labs indicates a significant lack of trust among young Americans, aged 18-34, regarding artificial intelligence and the prominent executives leading the technology sector. The survey, which polled 1,088
young adults, found that a majority distrust key tech leaders concerning their responsibility for AI. Specifically, 69% of respondents distrust OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, 70% distrust SpaceXAI CEO Elon Musk, and 71% distrust Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei also faced high levels of distrust, at 74% and 76% respectively. The highest levels of distrust were directed at Palantir's Chairman Peter Thiel (79%) and CEO Alex Karp (81%), partly due to Palantir's involvement in providing AI intelligence systems to the U.S. Department of Defense. Even Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, the most trusted among those surveyed, was distrusted by 65% of respondents.
