What's Happening?
Takeda has announced promising results from two Phase 3 studies of zasocitinib, a next-generation oral tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2) inhibitor, in treating moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. The studies, presented at the 2026 American Academy of Dermatology
Innovation Academy, demonstrated that zasocitinib achieved high rates of skin clearance across difficult-to-treat areas such as the scalp, nails, palms, and soles. Approximately 70% of patients treated with zasocitinib achieved clear or almost clear skin at week 16, with significant improvements observed as early as week 4. The drug also showed statistically significant improvements in the Nail Psoriasis Severity Index compared to placebo. These findings suggest that zasocitinib could offer a rapid and durable treatment option for psoriasis patients, particularly in high-impact areas.

The company is also evaluating the drug in Phase 3 studies for psoriatic arthritis and Phase 2 studies for other conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, vitiligo, and hidradenitis suppurativa. If approved, zasocitinib could become a key player in the treatment landscape for various inflammatory diseases, potentially expanding its market reach and impact on patient care.
