The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) has unveiled a set of principles aimed at broadening access to the accounting profession. These principles, supported by the Global Public Policy Committee,
which includes leaders from major accounting firms such as BDO, Deloitte, EY, Grant Thornton, KPMG, and PwC, are designed to create inclusive pathways into the profession. The initiative, titled 'Opening Doors: Six Principles of Best Practice to Increase Access to Accountancy Qualifications,' seeks to attract talent from diverse backgrounds, remove barriers, and adapt qualification pathways while maintaining high standards of integrity and quality. IFAC CEO Lee White emphasized the importance of engaging future talent and adapting to the evolving workplace to sustain public trust.
