The containership Ruby Tower, owned by UK-based Zodiac Marine and chartered to Ocean Network Express, experienced a loss of steering power and grounded near the eastern end of the Mobile shipping channel.
The incident occurred north of Gaillard Island, leading to a temporary suspension of traffic in the channel. The vessel, which is 300 meters long and has a capacity of approximately 9,000 TEU, was refloated with the assistance of three tugs and is currently holding in Mobile Bay.
