What's Happening?
The Tambaram City Municipal Corporation has launched the self-enumeration phase for the Census of India 2027. Residents are encouraged to submit their household details online via the Census portal from July 17 to July 31. Upon successful submission,
they will receive an 11-digit Self Enumeration ID, which must be presented during the subsequent door-to-door survey. The corporation has organized 1,483 enumerators and 243 supervisors to conduct the survey, which will cover 1,483 house-listing blocks, each consisting of 150 to 200 houses. The door-to-door survey is scheduled to take place from August 1 to August 30. The Commissioner, S Balachander, has urged residents to cooperate with the census process, warning that providing false information or obstructing officials is punishable by law. The second phase, focusing on population census, is planned for February 2027.
