What's Happening?
Türkiye has entered into a multi-year support contract with Marshall Aerospace for the maintenance and sustainment of 12 surplus Lockheed Martin C-130J/C-130J-30 Hercules airlifters acquired from the United
Kingdom. Announced on October 20, the agreement includes scheduled maintenance, spares, and tooling for the Turkish Air Force (TuAF). Marshall Aerospace, in partnership with the UK Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) Export & Sales, facilitated the resale process and conducted anti-deterioration maintenance at its Cambridge facility. The contract also involves center-wing box replacements on each aircraft before they enter service with the TuAF. Additionally, Marshall Aerospace will provide training to help Türkiye develop indigenous capabilities on the C-130J platform. Türkiye's Military Factory and Shipyard Management (ASFAT) is constructing new infrastructure to support C-130J maintenance, aiming to offer MRO services to international customers.
