What's Happening?
Altitude, a leading financier in carbon dioxide removal (CDR), has partnered with Alcom to procure over 360,000 tonnes of CO2 Removal Certificates (CORCs) from biochar-based facilities in the Philippines and India. This agreement, one of the largest of its
kind, is part of Altitude's efforts to expand its CDR purchases, which now total over 720,000 tonnes. The credits will be verified through Puro.earth, ensuring their traceability and long-term impact.
Why It's Important?
This partnership represents a significant step in the global effort to combat climate change by removing carbon from the atmosphere. By investing in biochar-based carbon removal, Altitude and Alcom are contributing to sustainable environmental practices that also offer economic benefits. The initiative supports the development of high-quality CDR capacity, which is essential for meeting international climate goals and reducing global carbon footprints.
Beyond the Headlines
