Samuel Larkin, 42, of New Castle, Delaware, has been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence following a fatal motorcycle crash on U.S. Route 13 near Schafer Boulevard. The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. on Saturday,

According to Delaware State Police, an Indian Scout motorcycle was traveling northbound on Route 13 when a Mazda 6, driven by Larkin, failed to stop while traveling westbound on Schafer Boulevard, resulting in a collision. The 54-year-old female motorcyclist from New Castle was transported to an area hospital where she later died. Larkin exhibited signs of impairment when officers spoke with him and was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged with second-degree vehicular homicide – driving under the influence – negligent causing death, a felony; driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol; and failure to stop at a stop sign. Larkin was arraigned and committed to the Department of Correction on a $5,101 secured bond. The roadway was closed for approximately three hours for investigation and clearance.
