What's Happening?
Israeli telecommunications company Cellcom has announced a partnership with HBO Max to offer the streaming service to its Cellcom TV+ subscribers. This initiative is part of an expanded television and fiber-internet
package. Under a summer promotion, new customers can access Cellcom fiber-optic internet, Cellcom TV+, and the HBO Max Standard plan for NIS 99 per month during the first three months. Existing subscribers can add the HBO Max Standard plan at no additional charge for the first three months. HBO Max's content library includes popular HBO dramas and Warner Bros. Discovery films and series, alongside international hits like Friends and The Big Bang Theory. Cellcom's chief marketing officer, Michal Betzer, emphasized the importance of expanding content offerings during Israel's summer vacation and Jewish holiday season, addressing the increased household expenses during this period.
Why It's Important?
The partnership between Cellcom and HBO Max signifies a strategic move to enhance streaming options for Israeli consumers, reflecting the growing competition in the streaming market. By offering a diverse range of content, including exclusive series and international hits, Cellcom aims to attract new subscribers and retain existing ones. This expansion could lead to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty, as well as potential growth in subscriber numbers. The collaboration also highlights the importance of strategic partnerships in the telecommunications industry, as companies seek to differentiate themselves and offer value-added services to consumers.
What's Next?
Cellcom plans to expand its August schedule with a slate of new series exclusive to its platform in Israel. This includes the Canadian hockey comedy Shoresy, British comedy-drama Flowers, and Greek crime drama Save Me. Additionally, the third season of Taylor Sheridan's espionage thriller Lioness and the Emmy-winning mystery series Poker Face will be added. These additions are expected to enhance Cellcom's content library and attract more subscribers. The ongoing partnership with HBO Max may lead to further collaborations and content expansions in the future, as Cellcom continues to invest in its television technology and programming.
