American Legion Post 28 in New Martinsville held a Memorial Day service to honor soldiers who have died in service to the United States. The event took place at Greenlawn Cemetery, where a traditional gun salute and wreath-laying ceremony were conducted
by the Legion, led by Matt Bland. Flags were placed on all veterans' graves, and the service concluded at the Wetzel County Wall of Honor with a brief ceremony and another gun salute. The Wall of Honor, recently restored, lists the names of Wetzel County veterans. Memorial Day, also known as Decoration Day, is a national holiday dedicated to remembering and honoring military personnel who have died in battle.
