A student from the University of Haifa discovered a 12th-century Crusader sword while swimming off the coast of Haifa, Israel. Shlomi Katsin, a student in the Department of Maritime Civilizations, found the sword protruding from the seafloor after chasing
away divers he suspected of being antiquities thieves. The sword, covered in marine sediment, was recovered and analyzed using a CT scan, revealing it likely belonged to a European Crusader warrior. This rare find offers insights into the lives of European knights in Israel during the Crusades.
