The UK government has announced an expansion of its AI Skills hub, aiming to upskill 10 million people over the next decade through free courses available to all adults. Launched in June last year, the hub has already
delivered one million courses. The initiative is supported by major companies like Accenture, Amazon, and Google, and focuses on practical AI skills such as drafting text and administrative tasks. The government views this as the largest targeted training program since the Open University was created in 1969.

Additionally, a new TechLocal scheme, backed by £27 million, aims to support employers and increase access to job opportunities. The first round of funding will help education providers develop AI degrees and graduate traineeships, while a second round will focus on increasing tech job opportunities in local communities.
